中国体育彩票app下载 Law School organised a special lecture in Hybrid Mode on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG): Emerging Trends and Road Map for the Future on14th December 2022 by Dr Shashi Ratnaker Singh. Dr. Singh is a 中国体育彩票app下载 Fellow of the University of Cambridge and the Visiting Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and a Visiting Professor, NTPC School of Business (Mentored by IIM A). He has also authored a book titled Land Acquisition and Resource Development in Contemporary India which is published by the Cambridge University Press in 2021.

Dr. Singh spoke elaborately on corporate responsibilities and the funds generated as part of corporates companies’ obligations to assist the state in rehabilitating those who have been affected by the companies. From the earlier times, most of the CSR funding was generated by industries which were highly polluting. Industries engaged in petroleum, energy generation, mining, and cement manufacturing. These industries were the biggest contributors to the CSR fund. However, the use of these funds was unregulated and unused

Recently the Government of India has made stricter policies to ensure that Corporate social responsibility becomes a way that a company manage its business processes to produce an overall positive impact on society. It covers sustainability, social impact and ethics, and done correctly should be about core business – how companies make their money.

Dr. Singh also elaborated through diagrams and statistics on how the Government have responded to the issue of corporate governance by making changes in the existing laws.
