1. EU-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

?

The EU is India's third largest trading partner, accounting for €88 billion worth of trade in goods in 2021 or 10.8% of the total Indian trade. India, respectively, is the EU¡¯s 10th largest trading partner, accounting for 2.1% of the EU¡¯s total trade in goods. On the end of the EU, large import tariffs make it virtually impossible to sell products not produced in India (for example German cars). India, on the other end, is confronted with high standards imposed by the EU, for instance in the domains of work safety or chemical safety. Against this backdrop and in light of India¡¯s ¡°Make in India ¨C Initiative¡±, exploring the future potentials as well as the barriers of the FTA will enhance the mutual understanding of future bilateral economic cooperation. This project could be approached in the form of a comparative analysis imparting best practice examples from other countries (e.g. Japan).

2. Media coverage of the Russian-Ukraine War

?

In the wake of the ongoing war, the media has gradually emerged as a battleground for states and non-state actors to spread competing narratives and (dis)information about the war portraying the war events in their own terms. While Russia frames the war as a ¡°special military operation,¡± as a necessary defensive measure in response to the alleged NATO expansion into Eastern Europe, the Ukraine portrays it as a ¡°war of aggression¡±. In some of the countries, the War is labelled as a ¡°Special Military Operation¡±,? following a predominantly pro-Russian coverage. This research project enables a comparative study of news coverage in India and the EU member states, particularly in Germany, highlighting the respective portrayal of the EU and the NATO and the media framing.?
